●The old fuel pump lock ring is usually damaged due to corrosion over time. It is very difficult to remove the old lock ring without damaging it. So it is recommended to replace the lock ring together with the fuel pump
●The fuel tank locking ring helps to seal and lock the fuel pump in place. If the old lock ring is damaged during removal, it may not properly seal and secure the new fuel pump. Replacing it ensures the fuel pump is securely installed. It avoids potential issues like fuel leaks or the fuel pump coming loose in the future
