About Our Violin Shoulder Rest

  • A well-fitted violin chin rest provides stability and comfort to the playing position.
  • A padded base "hooks" over the players shoulder, holding the instrument in place and helping the player avoid the
  • instrument sliding down towards the chest. These rests promote good technique and hands-free stability for easy shifting and vibrato.
  • Players who use the Violin need not raise their shoulder or tense their neck to hold the instrument in place. The player
  • needs to simply lean his or her head into the chinrest and leave the shoulder loose and relaxed. The weight of the
  • players head will hold the instrument firmly in place with minimal tension to muscles or tendons.
  • Players who suffer from previous injuries or arthritis find enourmous benefit in using the Violin as it allows the
  • shoulder to remain relaxed yet keeps the violin held at the proper, higher angle, rather than drooping forward.

How to Set Up a Violin Shoulder Rest?

  1. Set the foot on the left at the lowest position possible, by turning it clockwise.
  2. Set the foot on the right at a higher position (turn counter-clockwise), so it makes contact with your body.
  3. Experiment with the right foot height to find the position thats right for you.
  4. Looking down from the neck of the instrument. The extended right side is easy to see.
  5. Note that the shoulder rest is at an angle across the back of the instrument. If your shoulder rest doesnt feel
  6. Comfortable for you, try to change this angle.
