The light modifier converts the indirect umbrella light into a soft, window-like swath of pleasingwindow effect for portraiture and situations that demand that open and statuesque treatment. With the flash aimed into the parabola of the umbrella, and the diffusion material surrounding the head and protected from light spill, the resulting effect is like an indirect softbox. The diffuser expands the utility and coverage of the umbrella, while taming the spread of the light, just enough, for large groups to be lit uniformly. All three types of deep umbrellas will find great benefit from the diffuser. When placed on the EZ Lock Silver/Black Deep Umbrella, a soft light with a slightly cool color rendition results, with a slightly higher degree of snap. Deep umbrellas with White interiors produce much softer light with a neutral to warm color quality.
