Do I need to pre-bake crusts with this pan or does the perforated holes on the base remove the need for this?
Hi, yes it totally removes the need for this. Indeed we designed the pan to save you the time and effort of pre/blind baking crusts whilst achieving a truly delicious crispy crust and in less time!
What are the dimensions of this pan?
The pan is 9 inches wide and 2 inches deep. There are a few other perforated pans on the market they all tend to be tart pans so have less depth normally 1 inch and we also thickened the carbon steel on ours so it is both bigger and stronger.
Is the pan dishwasher safe?
Absolutely Yes! Also if you are someone without a dishwasher the pan is super non stick so very easily cleaned regardless.
Whats the deal with the removable bottom how does that work?
When your pie etc. is cooked place the pan on a jar. The base and sides of the pan are separate so the base will stay on top of the jar but the side will drop to the table. So your pie will not need to be cut from the pan avoiding any damage to it!
Why is this better than using a ceramic style?
Hi, there are a few key benefits. The main is that metal allows us to add holes (perforation) this increases heat flow leading to the crispiest crusts. The other notable benefits are that it is truly non-stick and dishwasher safe. It is also durable.
