Replace Part #
Timing cover protects the timing belt or chain that connects the camshaft to the crankshaft. The cover ensures that dirt and grime from the outside world don’t enter into the engine itself, and the timing cover gasket is there to complete the air-tight seal.
Time and heat are the biggest enemies to a timing cover gasket. As time goes by, the gasket begins to dry out and shrink, cause the timing cover gasket to fail.

Checking for Timing Cover Leaks
If there is an abundance of dirt and grime around the timing cover, cylinder head area or engine block, use some degreaser to clean the area so you can see the bare metal near the timing cover, cylinder head or engine block joint. Check the area after running the engine for a bit and you’ll be able to see if the timing cover gasket is leaking.
If you find a fault, please replace it in time!
