Tip:Applying oil or grease to the tool will protect it and make the work smoother.
Remove the valve cover and remove the rocker arm and rocker arm guide.
Place the bottom aluminum plate on the head where the rocker bolts are installed and place the middle section on the top that has the studs and install it into the head with the 2 provided bolts, making sure the tool is set in the middle between the 2 valve springs. Tighten manually with a ratchet and socket. Do not apply too much force, if you do you will cause damage to the head.
Place the top on the 2 valve springs and install the supplied nuts. Make sure the studs are greased.
Before tightening, if you are using this on a head mounted on an engine, you will need to use a compressed air fitting in the spark plug hole to keep the valve closed.
Tighten the nut slowly with a hand tool, do not hit it hard as this will cause it to overheat and disconnect!
After compressing the spring you can remove the valve retainers with a magnet, this will prevent them from falling on the head.
After removing the retainer you can reverse the nut, slowly release the pressure and remove the spring.
Use the same procedure to install the new spring. When reinstalling the valve retainers, be sure to install them in place so they can be properly secured before releasing the pressure.
