A smart little tool, this dumpling press from Helens Asian Kitchen turns out perfectly uniform potstickers, pasties, and perogies in short time and with little mess. Designed in collaboration with Helen Chen, daughter of Chinese food pioneer Joyce Chen, the piece is crafted from polyethylene for lightweight use. Its hinged design produces 4-inch dumplings by tidily tucking filling inside and crimping the edge with a close of the handles. Removal is simple so prep and cooking are streamlined. For cleanup, the press goes into the dishwasher or scrubs up easily by hand. --Emily Bedard
