Shock Strap A+Shock Strap A+

ShockStraps are a one-of-a-kind ratchet strap that are ideal for nearly any application, from securing cargo on your vehicle for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer.

Unlike traditional tie-down straps, which dont stretch or contract, ShockStrap tie-downs are uniquely designed with built-in urethane shock absorbers that absorb impact and allow the strap to maintain constant tension on your hooks and your load as you travel, preventing loads from shifting during transport. This is especially great for vehicles with suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you’re traveling through rough terrain.

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. ShockStrap recommends that you always use straps in pairs. We strongly recommend using a 4-point tie-down system when securing any and all vehicles.

How to Use ShockStrap Ratchet Tie-Downs: To use ShockStrap Ratchet Tie-Down Straps, first attach one of the hooks to a desired anchor point. Next, stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to an anchor point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points. Once the hooks are in place; tighten the webbing around the cargo, feed the webbing through the ratchet assembly, pull out the slack and begin cranking the ratchet until the webbing is taut around your load.

This next step is crucial for proper operation: To activate the shock absorber, continue cranking the ratchet until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. Crank ratchet to desired tightness, making sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give. Finally, after stretching the shocks and tightening the webbing, make sure your cargo is completely secure. Finish off by tying off any extra slack.

IMPORTANT: Shock absorber must be stretched prior to travel. If ShockStrap’s shock absorber is not stretched prior to travel, the strap may not operate as intended which may cause cargo to shift.
