And although this turned out to be just a cheeky myth, the famous Queen did enjoy scandalizing her French subjects with lavish excesses and pampered femininity and left an iconic legacy behind this glass design.
The famous rumor must have only added more charm to aesthetically pleasing coupes, and they quickly became the most fashionable vessel for the royal drink of choice – sparkling Champagne, which literally was known as the drink of kings and aristocracy in the 18th century France.
