It is important that you purchase a Timing Light that is compatible with your engine.
1, Please check if your vehicle is equipped with a distributor.
In addition to a distributor, there should be timing marks on the crankshaft pulley.
2, For 9V-16V ignition systems
3, Can control both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
Q: How does the digital timing light work?
A: The principle is similar for both analog and digital timing lights. The KZYEE KT60 digital timing light has a LED, which displays the value. This is much easier to configure and use than an analog timing light.
Q: What happens if the ignition timing is set too early?
A: Too early ignition timing means that the spark is ignited too early and the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber is earlier than required. This will generate more heat during the combustion cycle and cause your engine to overheat.
Eventually, this will affect the performance of your engine.
A. Display Area: Display ignition advance angle or engine speed.
B. Indicator Area: Indicates that the product is in a certain functional state.
C. Operation Buttons:
"R/A" button: to switch the displayed speed and ignition angle;
"4/2" button: to switch 4-stroke and 2-stroke;
"+" button: short press to increase ignition advance angle by 0.1 and long press to increase by 1;
"-"button: short press to reduce ignition advance angle by 0.1 and long press to reduce by 1.
Cable Connection:
1. Clamp the inductive pickup around the #1 spark plug wire. Make sure the arrow on the wire is pointing toward the spark plug. Be careful that the inductive pickup does not touch the exhaust manifold or surrounding parts, as these areas become extremely hot and would damage the inductive pickup.
2. Connect the RED clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
3. Connect the BLACK clamp to a secure engine ground, such as the alternator bracket or engine block. For safety reasons, do not use the negative (-) battery terminal or fuel system components as a ground point.
PLEASE NOTE: Before adjusting ignition timing, adjust "dwell angle1 or "gap" on vehicles equipped with breaker contacts.
1. Check the manufacturers instructions for the correct setting of the engine being serviced.
2. Loosen the distributor clamp bolt so that the distributor can be rotated in either direction.
3. Locate the engine timing mark and use a rag to remove grease and dirt from the mark and pointer. It may be helpful to paint the mark with chalk or white paint to make it easier to see.
4. Start the engine and run it until it reaches normal operating temperature. This will take about 15 minutes, then turn the engine off.
5. Start the engine and run it at normal idle speed, pointing the indicator light at the timing mark.
6. Trigger the timing light and observe the reading from the timing mark.
7. Compare the reading obtained with the manufacturers specifications. If the timing does not meet the specifications, slowly turn the distributor a little to get a correct reading.
8. Turn off the engine.
9. Tighten the distributor clamp bolt.
