About Clothes Moths in Your Home :

The adult body length of the moth is 5-7mm, and the wing width is 13-15mm. The larvae are milky white and 8-9mm long. Around 4 generations a year. The clothes moth larva is a small white caterpillar hidden in a silky bag or net (called a tube nest). The body of the adult clothes moth has bright golden scales, its head is golden red, and its antennae are darker than the rest of the body.

The female moth is slightly larger than the male moth. The adult female moth can survive for 3-4 weeks and lay 35-50 eggs on the surface of clothing during mating. The eggs are white, soft and round, and hatch into larvae within 5 days.

Feeding on wool, hair, fur, and feathers, larvae move slowly. May damage textiles and endanger animal specimens in libraries or museums. (Adults do not feed)

Harm of Clothes Moths ：

The larva can spin silk to make cocoon, and store wool, upholstered furniture, fur, carpet, blanket, fish meal, chemical fiber wool and cotton blended fabric for the larva to eat. Larva mostly exists in the clothes storage room, upholstered furniture seam. The body of the moth is very weak and it flies not far away, which limits its range of activity. Especially like the textile stained with food or other pollution, the collar or clothing fold can also see the trace of the moth. (cotton clothes are less vulnerable)
