Description

Artillery played a tremendous role in the American Revolution. The "6 pounder" field gun had a bronze barrel measuring 4.5 feet in length with a 3.66-inch bore. This impressive cannons carriage included ammunition boxes on both sides. Because this immense field cannon weighed more than 500 pounds, it was usually transported by horse or oxen. The battlefield was a different story, however, where such cannons were maneuvered by cannoneers using drag ropes. A full crew for this cannon numbered as high as 14 or 15 men. While the range of these cannons often exceeded 2,000 yards, most actual field use was happened in distances less than 500 yards. Any Revolutionary War buff could really appreciate this miniature cannon, which is a smaller sized version of the actual cannon model. It can serve as reminder of a war that cost thousands of lives and be an expression of somber respect for those soldiers and their service. When anyone remarks with regards to it, you can use the chance to inspire them to help support Revolutionary War Battlefield preservation!
