Frequently asked questions about Science Can rock tumblers
1. How long does the Rock tumbler take to polish the stone?
It takes at 2 - 3 days to polish the stones to a satisfactory level. More polishing time will give the stones more luster and the end result is worth the wait as they look great when finished.
2. Can you put ordinary stones in a stone tumbler?
It is possible to use stones that you have prepared yourself, but avoid stones that are too soft, as they may turn into powder when you put them in the tumbler, and some very hard stones may damage your tumbler.
3. Why wont my rock tumbler turn?
It may be that you put too many stones and water in the bucket to overload the motor to turn. You can turn off the motor. Take some stones or water out of the bucket, then turn on the machine again.
4. What other items can you rummage for?
You can toss these coins into the Rock tumbler. The rock tumbler will help clean it and give it a nice shine.
It also can put the glass (pay attention to the sharp edges of the glass) in a rock stone machine to make beautiful sea glass, or you can put shells in it.
5. Do you use the whole bag at once?
Yes, we have just the right set of stone grinding sets in the kit to use. If you want to use your own stones you can buy some extra grinding powder to use. Use "rock tumbler grit" to easily search and buy.
6. Why is there powder/dust on my machine?
Due to the friction between the wheel and the barrel, some dust will appear after a long tumbling time. Dont worry, its normal, the barrel and the wheel are strong enough.
7. Does the machine need a belt?
The machine uses a belt-less design, avoiding the problem that the belt may break after long working hours.
8. Do I need to buy other accessories together with this tumbler kit?
This tumbler kit has everything you need for tumbling, including 1 pound of 9 real raw gemstones, tumbler and bucket, 2 polishing abrasives and grinding stones, jewelry fasteners and a full color illustrated guide.
IMPORTANT TIPS:
1. A small amount of hand cream or mineral oil can be applied to the surface of the stone to give your finished stone a smooth and shiny finish.
2. The tumbler will make a constant sound during operation. We recommend that you keep it in your garage or in a place where it will not interfere with your life.
3. The waste from grinding may produce clogs that are not affected by drainage system cleaners. Please do the cleaning of the grinding outside.
4. There is noise when tumbling. We recommend that you keep it in your basement or garage so that the tumbler does not disturb you. If the door is closed, the noise is almost inaudible.
5. Please do not put too many stones in one time, too many stones may make the motor cannot drive the barrel to rotate for a long time. The normal service life of the motor may be shortened in the abnormal working state for a long time!
