V-Bar

V-Bar Details:

V-Bar tire chains, also known as V-bar reinforced tire chains, are a type of snow chain designed for extreme traction on icy and hard-packed snow surfaces. They are commonly used in severe winter conditions, such as icy roads or off-road applications where maximum grip is required. The V-bars are strategically positioned along the length of the tire chain, usually at regular intervals. They create additional biting edges that penetrate the icy surface, improving traction and preventing slippage.

Its important to note that V-Bar tire chains are more suitable for certain applications. Due to the aggressive nature of the V-bars, they may not be recommended for use on paved surfaces, as they can potentially damage the road.

Overall, V-Bar tire chains are a specialized option for maximum traction in extreme winter conditions, particularly on icy surfaces.

Duo-Grip Chains

Duo-Grip Details:

Duo Style Chains are available in select sizes only. Duo Grip cross chains are connected in the middle to insure the pattern does not fall between the tread. Duo Grip style provide excellent lateral stability.

Since duo-grips cross chains are connected in the middle, this pattern does not fall between the tread bars. Duo-Grip Tire Chains recommended for: field work deep tread off road use hilly conditions

  • What is the difference between 2 and 4 link spacing? Snow Chains spacing is defined as the number of side chain links skipped between cross chains. For 2 link snow chains, cross chains occur every 2 side chain links. For 4 link tire chain, cross chains occur every 4 side chain link.
  • Which is better 2 or 4 link spacing? 2 link tire chain is always better. 2 - link tire chain provide for a more consistent ride by having more chain on the face of the tire. Therefore, helping to reduce the bumpy ride from being on chain - off chain. 2 link is always recommended for steering tires, since it allows more steering control.
  • When is V-Bar tire chain recommended? V-bar is helpful on hills, ice and hard packed conditions. V - Bar or Ice Bar chains are not recommended on pavement since they can damage the surface if the tires begin to spin.
  • Do I have enough clearance between the tire, struts, or control arms? Check your your owners manual, vehicle manufacture or dealer to confirm adequate clearance. Click here for a picture of a tire chain clearance problem.
  • What is the Duo-Grip? Duo Grip cross chains are connected in the middle to insure the pattern does not fall between the tread. Duo Grip style provide excellent lateral stability.
