Description

Quickly connect wires to VHDCI connectors with ease with no soldering! These breakout boards bring all 68 pins and shield of a 68-pin VHDCI (Very High Density Cable Interconnect) connector out to angled Spring Terminal blocks, allowing quick and easy connections to be made. Spring Terminals provide secure holding power and save much time compared to Screw Terminals. In addition to the spring terminal connection, each pin is also brought to solder pads (2 per pin) at 0.1" spacing, allowing the addition of small components or 0.1" headers if desired. Please note that the breakout boards are manufactured with a connection between each connector pin and the corresponding terminal block position; no soldering of any type is necessary. The solder pads simply provide an area for making optional connections to additional headers or other components.

This breakout board contains a female 68-pin VHDCI connector, which is sometimes referred to as a SCSI-5 connector. This style of connector is used by a number of equipment vendors, including National Instruments. The connector contact pitch is 0.8 mm. The VHDCI connector provides a compact arrangement of sliding contacts. The high contact density (0.8mm pitch) and good performance at high speeds make this connector a good choice for numerous applications, such as DAQ and SCSCI-5 equipment. For these breakout boards, Winford Engineering currently utilizes VHDCI connectors from Amphenol or TE.

The VHDCI connector has jack sockets installed; these will accept M2 x 0.4 threaded thumbscrews from the connecting cable.

Spring terminals accomodate wire sizes from 16AWG to 26AWG; approximate board dimensions: 3.85"; x 3.5". This product is available with DIN rail mounting clips or with Rubber Feet installed; this particular model has Rubber Feet installed.
