Step.1 Close the outlet shutoff valve,then close the inlet shutoff valve,drain the residual water completely. Then unscrew the top nut and release the brass canopy. Take out the old Bonnet & Poppet parts and dispose. |
Step.2 Put the new poppet inside the chamber.Unscrew the nuts from the bonnet copper column,then hand tighten the bonnet part clockwise into the vacuum breaker(Apply grease on threading if needed.) Place the canopy onto the secured bonnet part by put bonnet column through the canopy hole. Tighten the top nuts back to secure the canopy. |
Step.3 Open the inlet ball valve to pressurize the device,temporary "splash"is normal,the "splash"will auto shutoff once the device is fully pressurized.Then slowly open the outlet ball valve to fill the downstream line. |
NOTE:Do not force parts. Parts should fit together freely. Excess force may cause damage and render the assembly inoperable.
In most cases, tools are not necessary, hand tighten is enough to install this bonnet & poppet replacement into the system.
In rare case that you cannot tighten the bonnet part into the vacuum breaker, apply the included grease on threading, and the two pits on the outer ring of the bonnet part are fitting for large wrench, use proper tool to tighten if needed.But Dont overtighten
NOTE: This Bonnet & Poppet kit is designed to break when ice formed inside the sprinkler system to protect the system from total crackdown.
Drain and empty the water inside the sprinkler system in advance during the icing weather to avoid damage, this part is just the last safety.
