Amazon.com
Panasonics KX-TG5240M utilizes the 5.8 GHz band and digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology for increased call security and range and for less interference. This system comes with one handset but can accommodate up to three more (for a total of four). Compatible with Caller ID/call waiting, the KX-TG5240M offers a 50-station caller ID memory and dialer, accessible through the handsets three-line backlit LCD. It also features talking caller ID, which audibly announces whos calling through the handset and base speakerphones. Rounding out the main features are an integrated digital answering system and a light-up antenna on the handset that flashes to alert you to new calls and messages. The handsets also offer a variety of ring tones and melodies to choose from.
The KX-TG5240M allows you to pre-program frequently called numbers, even for chain dialing (ideal for calling automated systems that require a series of numeric inputs). Its also Caller IQ compatible, a service provides updates on weather, sports, horoscopes, and more; the information is sent directly to your telephone and displayed on the handset screen. (Caller ID and call waiting require subscription through your phone company. Caller IQ is a fee based service that requires registration.)

From the Manufacturer
The KX-TG5240M 5.8 GHz GigaRange expandable system uses digital spread spectrum technology and operates on a different wavelength with much less traffic than 2.4 GHz phones, to give enhanced range, security, and clarity while allowing you to expand the system by adding extra handsets. The system can be expanded up to four handsets.
Features:
- 5.8 GHz digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology (FHSS). Minimal interference, clear sounds, and all the advantages of digital--thats what youll get when you use 5.8 GHz FHSS technology.
- Talking caller ID. You can hear the name of the caller in between rings from the handset speakerphone and base speakerphone, as well as see the name and phone number of incoming calls on the three-line display.
- All-digital answering system. A micro chip handles all messages. And with no tape to fuss with, operation is simple, efficient, and virtually silent.
- Short light-up antenna with message alert. The handset antenna tip flashes during an incoming call (ringer) and flashes slowly when a message has been recorded.
- True voice paging. From the base unit, you can page all handsets simultaneously in the system. This features comes in handy, whether youre announcing an impromptu meeting or calling everyone to the dinner table.
- Three ringer patterns and three melody rings, two downloadable melodies.
- Caller IQ compatible.
- Chain dialing.
- Call waiting/caller ID. See the name and phone number of incoming calls even while talking on another call.
- Handset digital duplex speakerphones. Digital circuitry helps reduce the echo and dropout commonly found in speakerphones and allows more natural sounding conversations.
- 50-station caller ID memory and dialer.
- Large multifunction three-line LCD display on handset. The caller ID three-line LCD shows each callers complete information without additional scrolling. Backlighting on the handset LCD greatly aids visibility especially in low light.
