NICHE GEAR SHIFTER

  • The gear shifter switches gears on manual transmission vehicles. On Automatic vehicles this is called the gear selector.
  • In manual vehicles the clutch pedal disengages the clutch and transmission from the engine when the pedal is pressed. When the shifter is moved it fits into the small groove of the linkage rod which then engages the teeth of the gears.
  • In automatic vehicles the gear shift linkage rod moves a small lever in the transmission to operate a manual valve that drives liquid in the body to move the vehicle into the desired gear (PRNDL).
