Can I Put a 120mm Fork on a 100mm Bike?

Yes, you’ll be perfectly fine with using a 120mm fork on a 100mm bike. But there’s a catch. If you are within the specified period of coverage, switching the fork can void your agreement as most brands have restrictions on that.

How Do I Measure Fork Travel Length?

Fork length on modern bikes is commonly specified by measuring the distance from the fork crown to the axle in a direct line. Length-on-Axis is less common, where the measurement is taken from the crown to the axle along the steering/head tube axis.

What Does 120mm Travel Mean?

The fork travel means the compression of your bike’s fork. Basically, how short it can get when you push the fork. So, a fork with less than 120mm travel is ideal for long rides. A bike with medium travel (within 160mm) is good for mountain trails.
