This Absinthe Accessory Set includes two ALANDIA Absinthe Spoons Classic as well as one large bag of Absinthe Sugar Cubes individually wrapped in paper, perfect for the traditional preparation of your Absinthe (more information about the Absinthe ritual can be found below). The included Absinthe spoons from ALANDIA are a faithful reproduction of vintage originals. This gives you the desired nostalgic aura. The spoons are not only authentic, but also made of stainless steel in high quality. This distinguishes them from the usual "cheap Absinthe spoons" made of tin or aluminium. The Classic Spoons have a rhombic patterned spoon surface through which the sugar drips into the Absinthe together with the water during the Absinthe ritual. The sides of the spoon are slightly bent upwards so that the sugar cube cannot slip. The curvature of the handle gives a firm fit of the spoon on the rim of the Absinthe glass. These small details contribute to the high functionality of the spoon. Its weight is 15 grams, i.e. it lies pleasantly heavy in the hand. As it is made of dishwasher safe stainless steel a long life (and beautiful appearance) is also given.
You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice cold water for the traditional Absinthe ritual. This is how it works: First, Absinthe is put into the Absinthe glass (1 oz.). Then you place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with water and magically louches from green to an opalescent white color. Finally you stir the Absinthe with the spoon and voilá, your sugared Absinthe is prepared! The perfect Absinthe / water ratio is 1:3. Preparing Absinthe the traditional way is a real experience!

Absinthe Sugar Cubes: Individually WrappedThe set includes a large bag of individually wrapped Absinthe sugar cubes. The ALANDIA Absinthe sugar cubes are less pressed than regular sugar cubes. Therefore they dissolve better during the Absinthe ritual. They are nicely packed in a brown paper bag. The bag comes with a clip for easy resealing. Overall these sugar cubes drive your Absinthe preparation to perfection. |
Absinthe Ritual: The Green HourAfter work, between 4 to 6 pm it was time for a glass of Absinthe. Mainly in Cafés and Bistros people met for the "Heure Verte", the green hour. Absinthe was typically drank with ice cold water and two sugar cubes, poeple had a sweet tooth during that time. Nowadays we recommend to serve Absinthe with just one cube. |
Absinthe Spoon: Stainless SteelThe set includes as well 2 ALANDIA Absinthe spoons "Classic". These classic Absinthe spoons have the same design as vintage originals. The spoon is made of high-quality stainless steel and is polished for a supreme finish and to prevent sharp edges. The spoons are as well dishwasher-safe for easy handling. |
Drinking Absinthe is an experience, especially if you prepare it the right way. The set includes a card where the traditional Absinthe ritual is explained in easy steps. Despite popular belief, Absinthe is not set on fire. This fire ritual is actually a modern invention and we do not recommend it at all. It destroys the fine flavor of quality Absinthe, is dangerous and historically inauthentic. The traditional French way of serving Absinthe is with ice cold water and a sugar cube. Enjoy and santé (French for cheers)!
Proudly serving the Absinthe community since 2001.
Once upon a time in 2001, Facebook, YouTube and the iPhone had not yet been invented, two friends decided to sell Absinthe and Absinthe accessories online. The timing was early, because the Green Fairy had just been legalized in the European Union... This idea was to last for the next decades. For 20 years, we proudly supply the worldwide Absinthe community with real Absinthe and authentic accessories!
