Flap Happy was founded over 30 years ago by designer Laurie Lipson Snyder, a Malibu native and mother of four.
“We like to think that were saving the earth and its children, one swim hat at a time.”
How did we get our start?
I founded Flap Happy 33 years ago in Malibu, CA after having the first of my four children. As a skin cancer survivor I had an idea for a hat that would protect my children’s faces and necks from the sun because I was not able to find a functional sun protective hat in the marketplace.
What makes our products unique?
Flap Happy is much more than just hats, offering UPF 50+ protective swimwear and headwear styles, as well as playwear & dresses, many made from recycled plastic bottles! Featuring vibrant colors and playful prints for boys and girls, our line is available in sizes for infants, toddlers, and kids.
Why do we love what we do?
It gives me the opportunity to educate parents on the risk of skin cancer and how important it is to protect their children at a young age from harmful UV rays. I love offering a product that is made from recycled materials that not only protects the environment but also protects kids from the sun.
